The Fountains of Tanzimat Reform Period As a Power Representation

Abstract

Öz: 1839-1879 yıllarını kapsayan Tanzimat Dönemi, Osmanlı Devleti’nin dönüm noktalarından biridir. Bu dönemde sadece yönetim kuralları değişmemiş bazı toplumsal değişimler de gerçekleşmiştir. Bu değişimler kaçınılmaz bir şekilde sanatı da etkisi altına almış ve yeni bir yön çizmiştir. Bu çalışmada Tanzimat Dönemi çeşmelerinden örnekler verilerek hem Osmanlı çeşme mimarisindeki değişimler incelenmiş ve siyasetin sanata verdiği yön irdelenmiştir. Mimarideki sembolizmi okumanın gerekliliği ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır.

Abstract: The Tanzimat Reform Period that include 1839-1876 years is one of the milestones of the Ottoman State. There have been some changes in social and administrative issues in this period. These changes have inevitably influenced art and have given a new route to art. In this study, there have been examined both the changes of the Ottoman fountain architecture and the direction that politics gave to the art, by giving examples from Tanzimat Reform Period fountains. The necessity of reading symbolism in architecture has been tried to be revealed.
