Tanpınar’s Opinions on the Divan and Folk Literature

Abstract

Öz: Çalışmanın amacı, Tanpınar’ın makalelerinde ve edebiyat tarihinde yer alan divan ve halk edebiyatına
dair görüşlerini incelemektir. Tanpınar’ın, incelediği eserlerde Türk edebiyatının tüm tarihî devirlerini göz önünde
bulundurarak kapsamlı ve mukayeseli yorumlar yapması ilgi çekicidir. Bu bakımdan yazar, sanatta süreklilik fikri,
eser-hayat ilişkisi, Garplı ve Şarklı düşünce sistemleri, medeniyet ve kültür gibi pek çok meselede Türk edebiyatına
olduğu kadar Türk fikir hayatına da katkılarda bulunur. Edebî eserlerin fikrî ve hissî kaynaklarına dikkati çeken
Tanpınar, Türk edebiyatına yeni ve orijinal metotlar getiren bir araştırıcı, nesillere yol gösteren bir öğretici, derin
bilgi ve kültürüyle, eskinin terbiyesinden geçen modern ve üretici bir şahsiyettir. Sanatta süreklilik fikriyle halk ve
divan edebiyatı hakkında yazdığı makalelerde ve edebiyat tarihinde, devir, eser ve şahsiyet bağlamında şairlerin
mizacını ve hayata bakışını anlatırken teferruatlı bir üslup çalışması yapar. Tanpınar’ın bir edebiyat araştırmacısı
olarak merkezinde daima edebî eser durur. Muhteva ve üslup gibi unsurlara değinen yazar, sanatkârın dünya
görüşüne ve devrinin genel özelliklerine varıncaya kadar tespitlerde bulunur. Bu gibi meselelerde ileri sürdüğü
görüşleriyle dikkati çeken yazarın halk ve divan edebiyatına bakışı, çok yönlü olarak ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to examine Tanpınar’s opinions on the Divan and Folk Literature in
scope of Tanpınar’s essays and literature history. It is interesting to see that Tanpınar made extensive comments with
comparisons by taking all historical periods of the Turkish literature into account, in scope of the works he examined.
In this scope the author not only makes significant contributions to Turkish literature in many subjects such as the
idea of the sustainability in art, work-life relation, western and eastern mindsets, civilization and culture; but also to
Turkish world of ideas. Tanpınar is a researcher who introduced new and original methods to Turkish literature, a
teacher showing the way to the generations and a modern and productive individual who is disciplined by the old
times in addition to his endless knowledge and culture. The author talks about elements such as the contents and the
style in addition to making determinations about the creators’ views of life and their periods’ general features. The
author draws the attention with his opinions on such subjects and in this study, his opinions on the Folk and Divan
literature were tried to be examined from multiple aspects.
